Owner and founder of Integrated Physical Therapy, LLC., Sheila Caldwell P.T., CGT has practiced and utilized her technique of manual (hands on) treatments in outpatient settings along with hospitals, and nursing homes. Serving in specialized assisted living communities, she became a Certified Geriatric Therapist (CGT) from the American Physical Therapy Association. Sheila graduated from Boston University (‘89) with a B.S in Physical Therapy.
For over 30 years, her career focused on the specialization of John Barnes’s Myofascial release (MFR). MFR is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying a gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restriction to eliminate pain and restore motion. Fascia is present all through the body as a continuous laminated web of connective tissue that extends without interruption from your head to your toes. It surrounds every other tissue and organ of the body, including nerves, blood vessels, muscles and bone. Physical/emotional trauma, repetitive motion, poor posture, surgical procedures, scarring and inflammation dehydrates the ground substance (the fluid component of the fascial system). The fascia loses its pliability, shortens and thickens, making you feel as though you are in a “straight jacket”.
In 2016, Sheila began studying Crossinology Brain Integration Technique (BIT) to treat concussions and learning disabilities. BIT is a cutting edge system that combines kinesiology, physiology, the acupuncture meridian system and Indian mudra’s for assessment and treatment. BIT uses complete protocol addressing 20 different areas and improves the way you think, how you behave, how you feel and how you move. Muscle Reactivation ”rewires” the brain improving the neurological firing of muscles from the brain for faster recovery from injuries and decrease pain. These techniques have complimented her manual skills to rewire the brain to re activate the firing of muscle for better/quicker outcomes.
In 2020, Caldwell became certified in Vodder’s technique of Manual Lymphatic Drainage through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. Lymphatic drainage compliments the myofascial release for better client results.
Since 2014, Sheila has been treating clients in need of vestibular rehab. Clients with BPPV (vertigo), concussions, decreased balance and generalized dizziness.
